The Compton Planning Commission will begin public hearings on the proposed General Plan 2045, Housing Element, Environmental Impact Report, zoning amendments, and ADU Ordinance on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
Planning Commission Public Hearing on the Compton General Plan 2045 Update
The City of Compton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 205 S. Willowbrook Avenue, to consider recommendations on several major planning initiatives that will help guide the City's future growth and development.
The Planning Commission will consider recommending that the City Council:
- Certify the Final Environmental Impact Report (State Clearinghouse No. 2024050160) and adopt the associated Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program, Findings of Fact, and Statement of Overriding Considerations.
- Adopt the Compton General Plan 2045 Update, establishing the City's long-term vision for land use, housing, mobility, economic development, public facilities, parks, environmental resources, and community development.
- Adopt the 2021–2029 Housing Element Update, addressing the City's housing needs and State housing requirements.
- Adopt the proposed Change of Zone (COZ 25-001).
- Adopt the proposed Zoning Text Amendments (ZTA 25-001).
- Adopt the updated Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Ordinance to ensure consistency with current State law.
Community members are encouraged to attend the public hearing, learn about the proposed updates, and provide comments. Following the Planning Commission's recommendation, the project will be considered by the City Council at a future public hearing.
