Community Workshop Recap: Proposed Zoning Code and Zoning Map Updates

The City of Compton successfully hosted a Community Workshop on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Douglas F. Dollarhide Community Center. The event drew over 40 participants, including residents, property owners, and community members interested in learning about proposed changes to the City’s Zoning Code and Zoning Map.

MIG provided an informative presentation outlining the purpose of the zoning updates, including proposed revisions designed to expand allowable property uses. For example, some areas currently limited to commercial use could, under the proposed changes, allow residential or mixed-use development (commercial and residential).

Participants had the opportunity to review zoning boards displayed around the room, engage directly with MIG and City staff, and share feedback about how the proposed changes may affect their neighborhoods. The workshop concluded with a lively question-and-answer session that allowed attendees to clarify details and express ideas for future planning.

The City thanks all who attended and contributed their input to help shape Compton’s future land use and development policies. For additional information, please contact the Compton Planning Department at (310) 605-5532.
